Russian handwriting practice. A unique resource for bilingual children

Develop your child’s fluent Russian speech, calligraphic handwriting, and reading skills with these unique workbooks by Nadezhda Lukonkova! Designed specifically for bilingual children who are fluent in English and attending English-speaking primary schools.

Key features:

  • Takes into account the knowledge and skills acquired by the child while learning the main language of instruction.
  • The order of learning the letters is adapted for a bilingual child. Combinations involving я, ю, е, ё, which are difficult for an English-speaking child, are introduced only once the cursive writing skill has been established.
  • Helps develop good handwriting, correct speech, reading skills, and vocabulary.
  • Each lesson includes illustrative material for class discussions and speech development exercises. A unique feature is the cover design, which presents a sequence of images for storytelling. This allows teachers or parents to transition smoothly into narrative discussions and provide children with a relaxing and engaging break.
  • The letter examples in our practice books completely match the official Russian calligraphy standard, as found on the back cover of the Ramzaeva’s 1st-grade textbook. In the majority of other editions, the letter samples often do not meet this standard.
  • Each book contains a separate section with reinforcement materials, which allows the adult (parent or teacher) to vary the workload. This makes it possible to provide different amounts of material for children who learn faster and those who learn more slowly. The “Reinforcement Materials” are also convenient for assigning homework, especially if you are teaching children in a group.
  • The workbooks can be used for teaching older school-aged children as the vocabulary and design are neutral. There is nothing “babyish” that might put off such children.
  • This complete 6-notebook set provides a large volume of handwriting practice material. This allows you to teach a child cursive writing using exclusively our publication, without needing to prepare anything additional.
  • Follows the Russian first-grade curriculum, though it is not designed to supplement any specific textbook.
  • ISBN: 9781911565734
